Our experienced team of physiotherapists are dedicated and passionate about the services we provide.
Physiotherapist Neil Secker works with a team of handpicked physiotherapists and administration staff to ensure the perfect mix of skills at White Cross Physiotherapy. We have worked hard to develop solid relationships with the local GPs, medical specialists and hospitals through which we often work with pre-and-post surgical patients and those requiring long term rehabilitation – all while ensuring your aches, sprains, back ache and sports injuries are also seen to promptly.
White Cross Physiotherapy is a member of the New Zealand Private Physiotherapists Association and has achieved certification status to the Allied Health Services Sector Standards. Our physiotherapists are members of a range of professional organisations including Physiotherapy New Zealand, Sports Medicine New Zealand, New Zealand Manipulative Physiotherapists Association and NZ Pain Society demonstrating our commitment to high quality service.
We accept referrals from all GPs, accident and emergency centres, medical specialists and other health providers.
Neil Secker - Director/Physiotherapist
Neil holds a Diploma in Physiotherapy and a Master in Applied Science (physiotherapy) specialising in the field of manipulation. After graduation, Neil gained extensive experience and further training in London and Australia. Neil returned to Whangarei in 1996 and as his patient list grew, so did his desire to have his own business where he could ensure a personalised, friendly and professional service was delivered each and every time.
Neil bought White Cross Physiotherapy Clinic in 2001 and has since, created a great team of physiotherapists to complement his skill set.
Outside of work, Neil is a busy husband and father of four who enjoys the outdoor leisure opportunities available in Northland. He has personal experience in competitive running, cycling and triathlon environments, and has played a range of racquet, water and ball sports. This has given Neil a thorough understanding of the needs of competitive and recreational sportspeople.
Dale Kent-Smith - Physiotherapist/Pilates instructor
Dale hails from South Africa where she operated her own physiotherapy practice for a number of years before moving to New Zealand in 1997. Dale has worked with Neil for more than 11 years, predominantly at their Raumanga clinic before moving into the White Cross Physiotherapy clinic last year. Aside from her huge range of physiotherapy qualifications, Dale also teaches clinical Pilates classes five times a week and always enjoys the wonders of the exercise that can work for people of all ages, injuries or disabilities.
Tracey completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy in 1995 and has developed extensive skills in manual therapy, acupuncture, sports injuries and Pilates. She has worked with Neil at White Cross since 2005 after returning from the United Kingdom. As well as chasing around after her two young children Tracey is active in a range of sports. She has long enjoyed basketball and netball as well as getting down to the slopes for some snowboarding. Tracey works part-time in practice and also provides additional cover for when other team members are away.
Roberta Wilkinson - Physiotherapist
Roberta graduated in 1983 and after working in orthopaedic wards and outpatient clinics, completed a postgraduate diploma in manual therapy and sports medicine and an advanced diploma in physiotherapy
Roberta has previously owned her own private practice, specialising in manual therapy and orthopaedic rehabilitation, as well as managing orthopaedic triage clinics and wards for the orthopaedic groups. She has also been a clinical tutor and lectured in sports medicine, taping and rehabilitation.
Roberta’s current role with Whitecross physiotherapy involves post-operative physiotherapy for Kensington Hospital inpatients.
Bev Richards - Administration
Bev is an integral part of the administration team for White Cross Physiotherapy; ensuring patients are met with a friendly smile and efficient service. Bev thrives on the interaction with patients and meeting new people, and she loves to make people feel welcome.Previously Bev worked within the legal profession for three decades and is relishing the change of role working with Neil and the team. Outside of work, Bev is an adoring grandmother and loves to spend time with family, going fishing and playing tennis.
Paula Wilson - Administration
Paula is another integral member of the White Cross Physiotherapy administration team. Greeting each patient with a friendly smile, Paula enjoys being on the frontline at reception, where no day is ever the same. Ensuring each person, whether a returning patient or a new one, is treated in a polite and efficient manner is her top priority. When she is not at work, this born-and-bred Whangarei local spends time chasing after her young son, reading, cooking and enjoying life on their rural property.
Karen Carter - Physiotherapist
Completed a Diploma i Physiotherapy in 1978. Owned her own practice in Whangarei for 20 years before joining the Whitecross physiotherapy team in 2016. Physio for Northland rugby 2000-2003. Widely experienced physiotherapist with highly developed musculoskeletal and acupuncture skills.
James Pook - Physiotheraphist
Completed a BHSc in Physiotherapy in 2012. Credentialed McKenzie therapist ad working through a postgraduate diploma in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Interest include rehabilitation and back and neck pain.
